Yes (or they already did) Had they followed the original this episode would be at least 3 episodes as it covers almost 9 chapters which is almost insane amount for for 5min per episode series.

No because original novel content is quite funny and not even remotely as dull. I would actually very much prefer original where there is a lot of funny machinations, insults and grovelling.

Novel events were quite different and far more enjoyable.

(Pill pavilion) The palace pharmacist was waiting whole long just to be told... to wait some more. And after being received by pavilion master he was only told "it's not you, but we wont stay if we're not welcome" and whole lot of avoidance. After being shown off without answer poor sod basically grovelled before Xu Bo who after whole lot of intentional sadistic "We're friends and I'd love to tell you, but..." finally tells the story. Hell, whole time reading you have a feeling like PM and Xu Bo have sadistic joy of torturing the palace pharmacist with telling nothing, where the fact on learning is basically life and death of his career. Then the arrest was not as simple as here, there were 500 guards and it was quite a big fight where palace pharmacist wasn't on scene but hiding to be shown the truth,

(Utensil hall/Artifact pavillion) Pavilion master actually told things straight up, but in novel his character is quite funny and the way he told it was anything but boring. But, it was far from 1 sentence. More than 1 chapter

(Blood shrine) Pavilion master didn't sent letter to palace, but made a personal visit right when emperor was dealing with the problems of pill/artifact pavilions in full panic mode. He was only told "Emperor is now dealing with some problems, so if you could..." turned and left with words "Since our hall is not respected and wanted here, tell emperor we're moving" and then left no matter how that servant grovelled for him to come back. When servant presented this fact to emperor it was just priceless. It went something like this
E: I said not to be disturbed.
S: Yes, but it was... (tells)
E: Why didn't you stop him and shown him in
S: I did but, he pretty much told me F*you
E: Why didn't you beg him?
S: I did, but answer was the same
E: Why didn't... (rinse and repeat few times)
S: (finally) He told me to tell you the message "F*you"

Also. a little warning for you. You might as well wait 5-10 episodes and then watch them in bulk as content will be political like this.
